Changelog
0.9.2
- About page: and a big THANK YOU to supporters.
0.9.1
- Tags wherever the file keeps them. Besides the tags at the start of a file, 0.9.1 also reads the ones at the end: APEv2, an appended ID3v2, ID3v1, and WAV tags after the audio. When a file has more than one tag, the first one found wins, field by field.
- Tags are read apart from playback, asynchronously on the system core.
- New setting: Show tags. It’s on by default. Turn it off and the player reads no tags at all: the play screen shows the file name and folder, as before 0.9.0.
0.9.0
- Tags: title, artist, album and track number. Read from ID3v2.2–2.4
(MP3, and WAV’s
id3chunk), FLAC’s Vorbis comments and WAV’s RIFF INFO. Covers, lyrics and padding are skipped, never loaded. A file without a title tag shows its name and path.
0.8.1
- MP3. CBR, VBR and ABR; MPEG-1, 2 and 2.5, 8 to 48 kHz, every stereo mode. Gapless too, when the encoder left a LAME header (LAME does), the same way mpg123 or foobar2000 do it.
- Enabled the microSD card. Browse and play straight from the card, FAT32 or exFAT. The card is mounted read-only. The second USB LUN is intentionally not implemented, so you can’t use the player as a card reader, and there are no plans to add it. Use a dedicated card reader to manage the library.
- Big cover art doesn’t break playback anymore. In 0.7.0 a FLAC with a 531 KB cover never started (thanks to the redditor who sent theirs). Now files stuffed with megabytes of covers, lyrics and tags play, and stay gapless across them; the gapless test set has a stuffed set to prove it.
0.7.0
The first public release, with not one line of Snowsky’s code. FLAC and WAV up to 192 kHz / 24 bit, decoded on the second core with its hardware accelerator for FLAC. Gapless! Folders and files sorted by name, and hold play to queue a whole folder. Volume in 1 dB steps. Play modes, resume, settings in a text file. Installs and uninstalls through the stock updater.
RECHO is free, and stays free. If a release made your Echo better, a coffee keeps the next one coming.
